Online Seminar: Innovation in Food Waste Reduction

Systemic innovations for the reduction of food losses and food waste in the agri-food sector

We invite you to participate in this online seminar, which will focus on food losses and food waste along the supply chain in the agri-food sector and how, from the different parts of the supply chain, innovations are being developed to reduce them.

We will approach this important topic from the hand of Dr. Carolina Peñalva Lapuente, from the R&D&I Department at Aitiip Technology Center, and her relevant vision in this field for the sector, as well as from her role as the coordinating organization of the european project SISTERS, funded by the EU under Horizon 2020. SISTERS seeks to reduce food loss and waste at the main stages of the food value chain in Europe, through innovations directed at each part of the value chain: new tools for primary producers to promote direct and short-chain (farmers) sales; new technological innovations in packaging for packagers and retailers; and awareness-raising campaigns for retailers and consumers on food loss and waste.

We will also be joined by some companies that have implemented or developed innovative projects to reduce and minimize these losses and will share with the attendees of this seminar their experiences and lessons learned along the way.
