One of the most expected moments of the International Event of the Ethical Trade Forums, held on June 12 in Murcia, was the ETF Awards ceremony for the winners in each category.
In the Environmental category, the award went to Grupo Hortofrutícola Paloma for its “Best practices for the reduction of the water and carbon footprint”. A project that shows the company’s commitment to the environment and sustainable resource management, highlighting that its main challenge is to reduce water and energy consumption. To this end, the company has different reduction plans.
SAT Eurosol was the winner in the Working Conditions category for its “Collaborative construction of social dialogue. Labor Culture for an intelligent and happy organization”. The objective of this best practice was to recover the social dialogue in EUROSOL, and to achieve it, three specific objectives were set: The first one, to identify the deep roots of the communication problem. The second was to guide a non-blaming process of reflection to face the situation without a predisposition to confrontation. And thirdly, to transfer the reflections to a training plan, to develop the competence of co-creation of a roadmap for social dialogue.
In the Community Relations category, SanLucar Fruit was recognized for its “Solidarity Kitchens ‘El Puchero’”, whose first implementation was in 2013 in Valencia. In 2018, the Second Solidarity Kitchen was inaugurated and, currently, both operate in collaboration with the Solidarity Coordinating Foundation of the Port of Valencia, with a free service of nutritious food and social care. Today it contributes to covering the basic food needs of more than 500 people in vulnerable situations and at risk of exclusion.
We thank all those who participated in this first edition of the ETF Awards, both those who submitted their nominations and those who voted for some of them. We hope that in the next edition, to be held in 2027, many more organizations will be encouraged to participate and share their best practices, to continue contributing to promoting the social, economic and environmental sustainability of the Spanish agri-food sector.
