“Communication strategies for the prevention and management of conflicts in organisations in the agro-food sector” was the topic of the online seminar given by Rosa Mª Torres Valdés, Professor in the Department of Communication and Social Psychology at the University of Alicante, with wide professional experience in companies conflict management.
The session organised by ETF brought together 62 companies representatives from several locations; Murcia, Huelva, Almería, Navarra, Seville, Cáceres, Portugal, etc, the most numerous professionals being those responsible for Human Resources and Quality.
The content of the presentation went from the study of the origin of conflicts and their root causes, to the emotional, cultural and cognitive dimensions of these conflicts and the application of socio-emotional intelligence for their management.
How to manage the discomfort that conflicts generate, how to approach problematic situations in a constructive way and how to turn the problem into an opportunity were topics that Rosa Mª. presented, managing to capture the attention and participation of the attendees.
To conclude, Tamara Garrido, representative of the ETF Empathy Working Group, explained the dynamics and interesting conclusions of the workshop that her group developed on empathy between clients and producers, in the international forums organised in Seville in 2019.
