As one of its first decisions, the recently created ETF Advisory Committee agreed on the members of the Ethics Committee, which will be constituted as such on February 26, 2024.

The Ethics Committee is an independent structure within the Canal Foros (ETF grievance mechanism), whose purpose is to provide its assessment in those complaints or allegations in which there is no agreement between the company and the informant on the proposed action plan to resolve them.

The structure of the Ethics Committee is formed by:

  • 1 ETF representative (Canal Foros Coordinator): Permanent member.
  • 2 NGOs representatives from the social/labor field: Permanent members who will participate in the sessions according to availability. At least one NGO from this field will participate in each session.
  • 2 representatives of environmental NGOs: These are permanent members who will participate in the sessions according to availability. At least one NGO from this field will participate in each session.
  • 1 Trade Union representative: These are permanent members who will participate in the sessions according to availability. At least one organization from this area will participate in each session. We are currently looking for the second organization.
  • 1 expert in the social/labor field and 1 expert in the environmental field: Permanent members, but they attend depending on who is an expert in the field related to the topic or situation to be reviewed.

In specific cases, when required, it will be possible the participation of:

  • 1 external observer (chosen from among the clients of the companies participating in Canal Foros, complying with the established requirements).
  • 1 external legal advisor (with legal experience related to the case).
  • Affected company.

We thank CCOO, WWF Spain, SEO Birdlife, CONVIVE – Fundación Cepaim, and Andalucía Acoge for being part of this committee, whose constitution means a great advance in the implementation of the Canal Foros.
