The third of the four workshops held during the International Event in Murcia, on June 12, was entitled “Promoting social dialogue in companies. Experiences and reflections.”
This workshop, which had 19 participants, was led by Rosa María Torres (University of Alicante), in collaboration with Manuel Jesús Martín (SCA Ntra. Sra. de la Bella Cobella) and Carmen Cano (Eurosol).
Using an active and participatory methodology, which kept participants enthusiastic throughout the workshop, the following objectives were set:
- Review the fundamentals of the social dialogue process, illustrating successful implementation experiences.
- Experiment with group dynamics that promote social dialogue in the company.
- Hear testimonials of experiences related from a 4P intelligence perspective: Purpose-Planet-People-Prosperity.
The workshop began with the sharing of Cobella’s video, in which Manuel spoke about the implementation of social dialogue in his company, highlighting that this was a process that was in the middle of the implementation, with initiatives still in development and preliminary results.
Rosa then gave a brief theory intro, explaining the concepts of knowing how to look to discern, along with a practical and fun activity where participants tried to follow two different music rhythms that come together in a third melody, harmoniously blending both beats.
In the second exercise, dialogue nodes, dialogue promotion groups were created, where participants experienced the difference between going alone, thinking about a problem that concerns them, versus doing so in the company of a group that provides support and accompaniment.
In conclusion, it is important to listen to different points of view, to adopt a position of humility, and to view issues without prejudice. It is necessary to put oneself in the other person’s shoes to hear what they wish to express from their perspective. And finally, being in the same boat and sharing goals is key to being able to dialogue.
