International ETF: Recruitment and Ethical Management

Foros Internacionales de Comercio Ético 2018

The cities of Sevilla and Murcia hosted successfully the International Ethical Trade Forums in November. These ETF’s focused on hiring practices and ethical management.

The ETF’s took in mind previous experience in each region last year. The content of each forum was developed with the support of the working groups and local experts in the round tables. The ETF’s were attended by experts from NGO’s and trade unions in the round table discussions. Many of them collaborated with the companies to encourage the workshops. Our Working Groups also updated members on their on-going work this year developing Good Practice Guides.

  • Code of Practice on Labour Agencies (Working Group Murcia)
  • Good practice on accommodation and transport (Working Group Huelva)
  • Good practice on smallholder practices and traceability (Grupo de Trabajo Almería)

In this edition, Importers and Supermarkets worked together to present their vision to the participants on the issue of ethical responsibility. They developed global trends on ethical trading issues, media and consumer attention, brand trust, NGO’s research, climate change issues, modern slavery and increased legislation.

They also gave a global vision of social and environmental risks and their impact on companies, as well as the need to collaborate and share.

An example of this collaboration is the video that Worldwide Fruit has shared with the Forum and that can be watched below.
