On Tuesday, February 18, the first 2025 Event organized by the Ethical Trade Forums was held, entitled “Safety and health as an engine for the sense of belonging to companies”. The event was held in online format, through the Zoom platform, and lasted 4.5 hours.
The 109 participants enjoyed a variety of presentations and a panel that animated a day aimed at sharing knowledge on safety and health in the agri-food sector.
The day began with a presentation on the role of safety and health in social compliance programs, presented by Rocio Saborido (Riel Fruchthandel), and then continued with the challenge of preventive culture, which was presented by Víctor Serrano (ETFA).
This was followed by a panel discussion on safety and health as an engine for the sense of belonging to the companies, with the participation of Soraya Herrera (National Center for Means of Protection in Seville, National Institute for Safety and Health at Work INSST), Rocio Maravet and Amina Dahou (Hortifrut) and Sergio Castillo (Alimentos del Mediterráneo, S. Coop – Alimer).
To end the first part, Ángeles Gil (SCA Ntra. Sra. de la Bella Cobella) shared her experiences on the subject.
When we returned after the coffee break, we were joined by Luis Piñero (Regional Government of Andalusia. Planning and Technical Promotion Service. General Direction of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health), who brought an interesting presentation on the impact of stability on agricultural safety.
Next, Marta Molina (University of Huelva, Department of Sociology, Social Work and Public Health) spoke about occupational health and the access to health of migrant women seasonal workers in Huelva.
To close the day, we had a new section of experience sharing, this time around Safehabitus Autumns School and Housing solutions for migrant workers, by Carlos Ruiz (Oxfam), Seidu Diop (Asnuci) and Carlos Ruiz de Toro (Doñana 1998).
At the end of the day, the Ethical Trade Forums shared the progress of the activities carried out this year, along with some planned for the coming months.
