On November 6, the last edition of the 2025 Visiting Days took place, following the Valencia Regional Meeting, which addressed the issue of food waste.
On this occasion, the Open Day was held in Museros, Valencia, and was organized jointly by Fontestad and the Ethical Trade Forums. It was the fourth activity of this type organized by the Sustainability Working Group.
A total of 11 people participated, representing the companies AM Fresh, Grupo Paloma, DPS, Lidl, Hanse Lutra, Riel Fruchthandel, Martinavarro, Global Pacific Food Group, and SanLucas Group, who were accompanied by two representatives of the Ethical Trade Forums.
The day consisted of a visit to a citrus farm, where the progress and results of the Tesco Nature Fund project were presented, including soil restructuring actions, biological pest management, and strategies to increase functional biodiversity. The type of biological control they carry out was explored in depth, with techniques such as incorporating different plants, creating good cover, and crushing wood from pruning to retain humidity.
The Tesco Nature Fund Project is an initiative promoted by Tesco to implement holistic measures aimed at strengthening biological control and improving soil quality. Its objective is to ensure the sustainability and viability of intensive fruit farming in southeastern Spain, by promoting responsible and regenerative agricultural practices.
Participants showed interest in the topics covered, asking questions and finally thanking Fontestad for generously sharing his knowledge and best practices.
The Ethical Trade Forums join the participants in expressing their gratitude, highlighting the clear focus on environmental sustainability that was evident during the visit.
