On October 24, the third Open Day of 2025 was held, organized by the Sustainability Working Group of the Ethical Trade Forums. This visit took place at Eurosol facilities, specifically at Los Cortezones Farm, at Níjar.
A total of 15 people participated, belonging to the companies Grupo Hortopalma, Frutas Alhambra, Ecoinver, Frutas Escobi, Sakata Seeds y Eurosol. All were accompanied by a representative of the Ethical Trade Forums.
The hosts began the day by presenting a summary about Eurosol, which currently focuses on the cultivation of tomatoes, melons, eggplants, cucumbers, and peppers, with a total of 220 hectares. In addition to their BRC and ISO 14001 quality standards, they hold certifications such as GLOBAL GAP, GRASP, SPRING, etc.
They also highlighted their work with Producción Integrada, which was later observed in the field during the visit to the farm, where it was noted that 100% of the production is under integrated pest management. The pursuit of biodiversity was also emphasized, achieved through flowering plants both inside and outside the greenhouses and insect hotels, complying with the LEAF Marque standard.
Next, the company Savian presented the Savian Human project, developed jointly with Eurosol, which since its inception in 2021, addresses production control through AI. Thanks to this project, they can handle issues related to pests, personnel, and costs using smart sensors, collecting up to 16,000 data points daily on various topics, such as what workers do, where, and how they do it.
The project uses algorithms to predict situations and better address problems, for example, when to plant, what type of seed, and where. In other words, it works as a resource calculator.
Another aspect of the project is the Savian Guardian Web, used to detect the equilibrium status of plants and identifies pests. Thanks to this, they have a 7-day greenhouse weather forecast and alarms to detect possible risks.
Participants showed great interest in the topics discussed, asking questions and finally thanking Eurosol for their generosity in sharing knowledge and best practices in sustainability.
The Ethical Trade Forums added to the gratitude of the participants to Eurosol, which is a company with a clear focus on sustainability and a strong commitment to artificial intelligence.
We are already planning the Open Days for 2026, so we invite companies interested in sharing their best practices through an event like this to contact the Ethical Trade Forums at afce@conexionsocial.com
