During these days the Ethical Trade Forums are making efforts to disseminate the App Foros through different instances. One of them took place on May 28 at the Tariquejo Residence, where 64 workers from different companies were present at a training held with the aim of raising awareness of the functionalities of App Foros among its main users: migrant workers.
Tariquejo is a residence for seasonal workers, located in the town of Cartaya (Huelva), which annually hosts more than 700 workers, many of them hired at source and working in different companies in the sector.
The Tariquejo residence has been collaborating with the Ethical Trade Forums for years. Among the contributions they have made is their participation in the elaboration of the Guide of Best Practices for Workers’ Accommodation, which is currently being revised and updated by the Health and safety Working group. Tariquejo is also collaborating within the Migration and Decent Employment Working Group, allowing our team to spend an afternoon with the workers housed in the residence, learning about their needs and discussing how some of our projects can help them.
During the training day on May 28, we reviewed relevant aspects of App Foros, the free mobile application developed by the Ethical Trade Forums, which provides essential information on labor rights, legal requirements, and guidance on key issues for workers.
As it is an App, the workers were able to download it and start using it immediately, discovering how easy and intuitive it is, as well as becoming aware of the positive impact of its use to get information and solve doubts. Above all, it was emphasized that it is available free of charge, in different languages, to be downloaded to smartphones.
Within the projected growth of the App Foros, there is the opportunity to incorporate a partner to create a section aimed at women recruited at origin from Morocco. The customization of App Foros for Latin American workers is currently underway, thanks to the support of SJP (Sustainable Juice Platform).
