The Ethical Trade Forums held their first online seminar of 2026 on March 3. The seminar was entitled “Update on labor legislative requirements and new opportunities for application” and was attended by 50 participants.
The presenters were Juan Antonio Gálvez (Gálvez y Asociados), José Miguel Morales, and Elvira Pérez (Federación Sur Acoge).
Within the context of the regulatory transformation currently underway in the fruit and vegetable sector, the seminar reviewed some of the new obligations that are about to come into force in 2026, such as transparency in remuneration in mobility plans. On this issue, the necessary details for implementation were reviewed, highlighting the importance of ensuring that the processes are carried out in accordance with worker representation.
Another topic discussed during the seminar was the minimum interprofessional wage, analyzing the possibilities for compensation and absorption by companies.
A third topic addressed was the transformation of fixed-term contracts to permanent contracts, clarifying the motivations, existing mechanisms, and impact of such action. The different call processes were also discussed, highlighting the relevance of collective agreements in organizing the call for fixed-term contracts.
José Miguel shared updated information on the extraordinary regularization of foreigners, highlighting the dates and expectations that exist. June 30 was mentioned as the deadline (to be confirmed) for the end of this process.
Elvira provided additional information, establishing links with existing processes in immigration regulations and recommending that, given that this is intended to be a very quick process, companies be prepared to help workers during the extraordinary regularization process that begins in April of this year.
To conclude the seminar, Juan Antonio answered questions about the registration of working hours and the mechanisms for recording them, such as fingerprinting and facial recognition, and the interaction of these mechanisms with the LOPD (Spanish Data Protection Law), clarifying that paper registration is still valid.
The topics addressed at this seminar will be continued at the face-to-face meeting to be held in Murcia on March 24.
